There is no faster way to feel lighter, calmer, healthier and happier than to rid your spaces of EVERYTHING that does not HAVE PURPOSE or BRING JOY. Bring Purposeful Interior Design into your life and Love Where You Live.
But first we have to ask, are you an Accumulator?
For most people accumulating “stuff” starts innocently enough, but it tends to gather steam over time and can add a great deal of stress and anxiety to your life. Wouldn’t you like to come home from a hard day and actually smile and take a deep breath of calm when you walk in the door? How long has it been since you could actually say you Love Where You Live?
Time to take the Accumulator Quiz:
1. Have you been given or inherited items that you keep on display even though you don’t like them?
2. Do you still have furniture, artwork (or anything else) because they were “expensive” when you bought them–even though now they are hopelessly out of date and do not fit your current lifestyle?
3. Are there things in your space you actually HATE yet there they remain?
4. Do you save reams of papers, magazines and articles because they contain “useful” information that you’ll get to someday, yet never do?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, Hail to the Accumulator! It’s time to let the power of Purposeful Design breathe life back into your spaces and FEEL the difference.
Here’s how to get started…
Go through you space slowly and with PURPOSE to seek out and find everything you LOVE. Love does not relate to resale value or anyone else’s definition of what should be important. These choices should be made on an emotional level. (Partners each get to gather what they love separately and together). You may have to go through closets, drawers, boxes in the garage, even that extra bedroom that’s now a storage unit. Take your time–this part should be Fun. Think of it as a Treasure Hunt. Now put all of your favorite things together on a table, in a corner, it doesn’t matter. The point is when the project is finished each of these objects will have a place of honor and be celebrated, because they bring JOY to your life.
Next time we’ll tackle what’s left: how to break down the process into manageable units and make choices based on your life, your goals and your dreams. You can get the home you love–regardless of budget.
